My Russian Tortoises

I thought it was time to share the story of my baby tortoises.

It all started with little Loris on June 22, 2010. She was wandering down the alley behind our house and I knew from that moment I HAD TO KEEP HER! My boyfriend and I decided to keep her at his house and we made her a nice home out a huge Rubbermaid container.

She eventually out grew her Rubbermaid container and we decided to build her a two story house that would allow her to sleep in the dark downstairs and she could also climb up the ramp at anytime to sunbathe under the heat lamp. She absolutely loves her new home to this day and is definitely a tortoise with attitude!

Lor always seemed like she need a little friend, so we decided to adopt another Russian Tortoise from a local tortoise sanctuary. His name is Hubert. They originally found him walking alone alongside the Mississippi river.

When we first got Hubert he was so scared and unable to chew any of his food. Now he is a tough little guy that is growing up to be a strong tort!

I am so glad that we stumbled across Loris on that random summer day because it started my life long love for tortoises.
